Got service or not?
Stuck-up restaurants! Learn about customer service from this grassroots food place

The best crab beehoon restaurant in Singapore may be filled to overflowing daily, but the management of the place has not forgotten that the customer comes first -- unlike the stuck-up attitude of other popular and famous restaurants, says STOMPer Tanjiak.

He was at Melben Seafood in Ang Mo Kio last night to indulge in the delicious claypot crab beehon. He and his friend saw a large crowd queuing and thought that the wait would be long.

Tanjiak wanted to give up and go to another place for dinner but was assured by his friend that the customer service at Melben ensures a short waiting time.

He saw that the queue for walk-in customers was orderly and organised because of red tape laid out prominently. Even while in the queue, he had a waitress hand him a menu. She took down his order while he was in the queue.

There was a separate queue for those who had made reservations. Such orderly queuing is not usually found in neighbourhood eating places.

When he was seated, he was handed a card by the waitress which informed him of the possible waiting duration.

The food arrived well before the time indicated. And, of course, the crab was delicious.

The waitresses were responsive and alert. Even the Ah Soh clearing the dishes chipped in and helped to take orders. What more can one ask from a restaurant?

One tiny peeve though: It was only 9 pm, but the restaurant had already ran out of chilli padi, which Tanjiak swears by when taking his meals.

I found that the shops in tourists' area often have poor service. At Sim Lim Square I was shopping for a fax/printer but mosty of the shops only interested in closing the sale, not interested in testing. A few days later I happened to see a shop in Punggol Plaza - Alfa IT Supplies and I asked them about the Canon MFC-290C. They did not have stock but telephoned to check the price. The price quoted to me was only 5 dollars higher but they are willing to test it out if I ordered. So I placed the order and next day, they called me that the printer has been delivered. I went to the shop and found that they have set up the printer and connected to their voice line. They then faxed a document from their fax machine to my new printer, also tested the copy function . They also showed me how to install the printer.

Based on above post...... i would give this restaurant 9.5/10 for customer service.... NB1. they have 2 Q's separating walk-ins from those with reservations, NB2. waitress gives out menu for those in Qs and takes advance order, NB3. they give heads up on waiting time for food NB4. food is served under the waiting time forewarned. Little wonder they r full and doing raving business.

This out boss have the skilled.

Open a stall - for what? - to earn more money.

1 OBJECTIVE - bring in more revenue (earning), make more money.

How to earn more money? Aims to reach objective.

2 Its AIM - a) Have more and continuous flow of customers. b) Managing customer satisfaction through "ACTS" (Whiles most of the resturants had customer to fill in feedback and keep under carpet or other gimmick which work against themselves)
