Got service or not?
Chinatown dim sum seller handles food in a unhygienic manner

STOMPer EH spotted this dim sum seller who used her bard hands to handle uncooked food and sprayed dishwashing liquid on the wall in front of dishes of food.

The STOMPer recounted:

“I caught this food seller using her bare hands to prepare food. I find it really unhygienic and wanted to share it with STOMP readers.

“I was sitting outside her stall having my breakfast when I witnessed her using bare hands to handle the uncooked dim sum and put it into the wooden trays.

“What shocked me later was that while the food is still on the table (where she prepared the food) she was spraying some dishwasher liquid on the wall just in front of the table and started using a cloth to clean the wall!

“Won't the dishwasher liquid get into the food??? I really think its unhygienic to prepare food in such an environment!

“Perhaps these are the actions not seen by the public, that is why they are still so crowded especially during weekends. I hope the relevant department will investigate this stall and check on their cleanliness level.

“This food stall is located at Chinatown food centre. They sell Chinese Dim Sum. I don’t think they deserve such good sales given the fact that the food is prepared in such manner!”

petshop1980:- yes my parents cooked with bare hands at home. With love and care(-ful)washes not only their hands also the meat & veggies. They are not cooking the whole day, in large quantities and selling them. So,they have the TIME to observe the standard of hygiene during food preparation, not "chin chai" can do lah!!or never-mind lah a little bit of sand/soil on the veggies, or soap on the bowl, no need to wash so clean! There are differences btw home(cook)and business. Business, time is money, home(cook)is for the people u care. Other people will not suffered when my mother cooked with bare hands at home(if there should be any food poisoning, which I doubt so.)
