$3.80 for pathetic portion of hokkien mee

STOMPer Jason was upset after paying $3.80 for a pathetic portion of hokkien mee he got from a stall at Tiong Bahru Plaza foodcourt.

He says that he doesn't mind paying a little more, if the portion's proportionate to the amount paid.

Says this STOMPer:

"I order this plate of hokkien prawn noodle at Tiong Bahru Plaza Kopitiam foodcourt.

"It cost me $3.80, a price which I expected from a foodcourt.

"But once I got the prawn noodles, I realised the portion was small, only one prawn was given.

"I think this is the most pathetic portion that I have ever had.

"Sometimes I would rather the stall pay a little higher and give a proper portion.

"But of cause if it is too expensive, it is still our choice whether or not we want to eat it.

"I asked myself, what contributes to this? Building management charging higher rent? In return food court charging higher rent to the stall? And stall charge either higher or remain at a lower cost but pathetic portion of food? Who's to blame for this?"

We were at the food court in ION (you know, the one with grandiose ideas completed with chandeliers)... and it'll be our first and last time eating there. My cousin paid $9.80 for a plate of seafood mee sua! And it look kinda like this prawn mee but with a bit more "liao" (ingredients).
Overheard at the table next to us, the wife came back with just one plate of rice, and when the husband asked why only one plate, she told him that the plate costs $8++ and it was only rice and vege! 1 chicken drumstick would have cost $5!
Are we supposed to be paying for the cost of the chandeliers and animal statues???? It's really disgusting they way the prices are hiked up just because of a supposedly prestigious address like "ION".

The dish don't look too appetising, I would not patronize it again if I visit the place again. But $3.80 seems a moderate price for a plate of noodles bsides the fact on the the quality and quantity served. My worst encounter was my visit to food street in Chinatown. Those hawker stalls on the open street despite having signs that says no touting and promoting still go round asking customers to buy drinks from them or customers are not allowed to drink if they brought along their own drinks. I think it is ridiculous as I have the right to drink what I want besides I did purchase food from the stall which entitle me the right to sit at the tables. I later found that a mini mart opp the hawkers sells only half the price for drinks compared to the hawkers. The moral of the story is we still have a choice from who we buy from as it is our money.
