Got service or not?
Tiger Airways puts both my flights on same day

STOMPer Laughing's flights in and out of Kuching have been rescheduled by Tiger Airways to fall on the same day, less than an hour apart. The STOMPer had originally booked to fly into Kuching on Nov 21 and depart on Nov 22.

To make matters worse, the budget airline will charge the STOMPer an additional $150 to change the departing flight.

In the STOMPer's email dated Oct 13:

"I have booked an air ticket to Kuching on 21 Nov and return on 22 Nov.

"My air ticket has been changed to depart on 22 Nov and back on 22 Nov.

"I think it is the ultimate insult to human intelligence. I called Tiger airways and explain that I wish to change to either an earlier departure date or a later arrival date but was told the following:- 1) No refund as it is not tiger's policy 2) Changing of ticket's date will cost an extra of $150 as the ticket price is different now and all seats are 90% filled.

"I explained it is not my intention to change but the staff told me it is the company's policy 3) I explain to them that I will miss my flight back as there is not enough time to check out and check in again.

"This was meant to be a sarcastic remark and to my astonishment, they told me that I have to stick to this as this is one of the terms and conditions that was agreed. It seems that common sense is not that common after all.

"This is indeed the joke of the year for Tiger Airways.

They have developed cheating into an art ... aggressive marketing, overpromise and oversell, knowing well they can't fulfil their obligation. Then juz conveniently say "operational reason" and cancel or reschedule flights at their fancy. Inconvenience, distress and extra costs suffered by passengers is none of their interest. Then they play hard to get. Call centre can't help much, merely tell u to write in to a PO Box address. No tel no, no email, no office to walk-in. Then u pray they receive yr snail mail. 9 out of 10 then gave up. And the carrier laughs all the way to the bank with your $$ and make their P&L looks good to investors. Govt must step in fast to prevent this company bring shame to SG. It's the potential Lehman Bros of SG. Many investors will get hurt one day

Heard from insiders they had a mass exodus of pilots in recent mths, so had to cancel and reschedule many flights. Then play dirty by not informing many passengers about cancelled or rescheduled flights. Then play dragging tactics to brush off refunds. 9 out of 10 passengers gives up chasing for refund. That's how P&L still looks okay. This endangered species will become extinct soon. Beware!!!

They're struggling with a Pilot shortage and now have to cancel flights! Unfortunately I will not buy Tiger tickets as I don't know if my flight will be cancelled or not when the day comes!

Come to think of it, should I buy a ticket then sue them later for selling me something where they know that they have no chance to provide me the service? hmmm...

It is useless to call them to complain. You will simply be put on hold for a few hours on the line.

Writing them a letter to complain will take them 1 whole month to reply with a standard template.

Had my 1st experience w Tiger Airways this June.As I was on overseas assignment,a colleague there wanted to take his summer vacation & travel to KL with me.But, his baby had some v.serious illness 1 wk b4 & looks unlikely to travel.Since we’ve booked the ticket & not reversible, just try moving to later date.Read thru’ the rules, all I knew was,TA can't change flight;they don’t entertain e-mail (as they want to maintain high level of service! V.impressed).Thus,have to call fm overseas, just to change flight. After many tries,a lady picks up.Told her the issue, her said,u can change but amendment fee is S$50! & totally rude. Thus,I said that's even more expensive than original ticket paid. Her reply "indeed, so you...""Better cancel my flight right?""Well, it's your choice." That's great, subsidiary of SIA, what a big disgrace. Why they even bother to hire someone there to pick up phones. These useless costs shld be save,it’s not service, rubbish & rude attitude to make SQ look even more stupid.
