Got service or not?
Hairstylist gives me a bald patch and hopes I won't notice

A STOMPer was horrified when he discovered a bald patch in his hair after a trip to a Marine Parade salon. When he called the hairdresser for an explanation, the hairdresser claimed he was not aware of the bald patch.

Wrote the STOMPer:

"I wish to report an extremely unpleasant experience I had at Block 83, Marine Parade Central, #01-580 branch of New Station Beauty & Hair Salon.

"Yesterday evening at around 7 pm, I got a haircut there by a hairstylist by the name of Kelvin. That was the first time he ever cut my hair.

"I told him I wanted high slope on 3 sides and short spiky hair on top. Without bothering to trim slowly and up from the sides first, he immediately shaved off the sides and ate way deep into the top, giving me a mohawk-style cut.

"I was already quite shocked and angry, but did not question him since it already happened. He then proceeded to quickly finish my haircut and did not let me see the back of my head with a mirror, and immediately collected the fee. Since I was a regular there, I did not suspect anything amiss and left.

"When I reached home, I realised there was a big bald patch on my head, and was so angry. I called the outlet the next day and demanded an explanation. Kelvin at first tried to deny it, then he 'suddenly' remembered me and confessed he made the blunder.

"I questioned him and asked him why he did not tell me on the spot and did not show me the mistake in the mirror. He denied it. How can he assume that anyone wouldn't notice such a big bald patch on their heads when they see themselves in the mirror?

"When I asked him how he was going to compensate me, he offered to 'trim' my hair. Wouldn't that make me a skinhead??

"I wish to warn otye readers. A 'hairstylist' with such lousy skills and poor ethics will only ruin more peoples' hair."

Pay more get better quality is a misconception. I once went Orchard to cut hair $30+, the quality also like shit, in the end I went neighbourhood salon cut $10 only but the quality much better. People who say don't complain, wait till this happens to you.

New Station was the one who willingly offered $4 haircuts in order to stay ahead of the competition. No one bargained with them or forced them to make it so cheap, and they as " professionals" should have the decency to deliver the full service with certain standard. Otherwise it's like saying a doctor who willingly charges his patients cheaper is entitled to issue fake medicine? The hairstylist should let the Stomper shave a bald patch in his hair back to know how it feels. That's the best form of compensation.
