A STOMPer was insulted that a salesgirl suggested she was fat when her fiancé was browsing wedding bands at a jewellery store. The STOMPer thinks this is inappropriate behaviour especially during a sales transaction.
Said the STOMPer:
"I would like to bring to attention one of the staff members at a jewellery shop at Causeway Point.
"My fiancé and his family were shopping for gold (4 Dian Jin) for our upcoming wedding and they were served by the staff member.
"When my fiancé told her my ring size, she made an unnecessary comment: 'WAH...! Is she very fat?'
"She even went on to demonstrate how the size was bigger than her thumb.
"This was totally uncalled for and I do not think that me or my fiancé and his parents should go through such humiliation when we are trying to do business with the jewellery shop.
"If the sales executive wants to be sure if my fiancé got the right size, there are other ways to do so.
"Besides, why would my fiancé get my ring size wrong?
"I look forward to a satisfactory response from the jewellery shop."
Poh Heng Jewellery has issued an apology to the STOMPer after her story was put up on STOMP, saying that they are conducting an investigation.
They said in their reply:
"Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We apologize for what you, your fiance, and your fiancé's family have gone through.
"Ms Chng and the management of Poh Heng take a serious view of this and have ordered a thorough investigation.
"We value every customers' feedback and opinions. We thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback to us.
"We will get in touch directly with you to keep you updated."
