Got service or not?
Why the need for huge sign just to tell economy class passengers to wait?

A banner from Singapore Airlines at the boarding gates in Bangkok international airport, which segregates economy class passengers from the other classes by telling them to 'wait for your row numbers to be called', has irked STOMPer lin.

The STOMPer wrote:

"While boarding a Singapore Airlines plane at Bangkok airport, I saw these two big 'air ticket' banners at each side of the passenger waiting area.

"I don't feel really great and happy when I saw the "big ticket" banners to help direct the passengers.

"On the big 'economy class ticket', you can see the words 'Please wait for your number to be called'.

"Yes, I may not be taking business class now but please consider the feelings of economy class passengers.

"Come on, economy class passengers are adults too -- we understand the waiting period for our row numbers to be called. There is no need to make it so obvious by printing such a 'big ticket' banner.

"Please don't treat economy class passenger like kids please! For some reason, the banner just makes me feel that economy class passengers are not welcomed on the flight.

"I just hope Singapore Airlines can be sensitive and do better than this 'discriminating' method before more people get offended and switch to other airlines."

Often I flew on economy seat myself and I had seen fellow economy flyers trying their luck to enter before their seat numbers were called. The sign board is a good form of reminder. Nothing to cry out loud.

Some passengers just dont care. Once the gate is open, they will stand in line and just want to board. These are the ones with logs of carry on and wants to put their stuff in the cabin before all the space is occupied. Some just dont care and want to get in first. What's the rush. The plane is not going to take off any sooner right? Over the PA? Thats a waste of time, I have seen people rushing in while the PA is saying the rows and still people just rush in line. So put a big sign for people to see would be better. Than you cannot say dont understand English since the sign has chinese on it..

Stomper is being overly sensitive... They call rows numbers because if they dun do so, everyone will be stucked at the entrance of the plane

SIA, and for that matter CPA too, have always looked down on Economy passengers - especially in Singapore and Bangkok. That's why I avoid flying on these two airlines.
