The Ferrari driver who allegedly beat a red light and crashed into a taxi in May was not drunk at the time, states a Health Sciences Authority (HSA) report. The crash resulted in the death of three people, including the Ferrari driver.
According to a news report, the HSA toxicology report indicates that analyses of the late Mr Ma Chi's blood and urine detected no traces of alcohol or controlled substances such as cocaine and opiates.
Mr Ma's family said they are glad the scientific report is out, and they will adhere to Singapore laws regarding what to do next.
Mr Ma was a financial investor who is survived by his four-year-old daughter and 28-year-old wife, Madam He Tingting. Madam He recently gave birth to their second child.
The accident became a major talking point in the weeks that followed, with many honing in on Mr Ma's nationality and wealth. That prompted the Chinese Embassy to make the rare move of advising its citizens to be conscious of their conduct and abide by Singapore's laws.
In the wee hours of Saturday (May 12) morning, Mr Ma's Ferrari hit a taxi which in turn hit a motorcycle at the junction of Victoria Street and Rochor Road. Three people died as a result, and footage of another taxi's camera shows the driver beating the red light with the $1.8 million car.
The clip also reveals that at least eight lucky people escaped the horrific accident by just seconds.
Mr Ma Chi came from China a few years ago. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The taxi driver, 52-year-old Mr Cheng Teck Hock, was pronounced brain dead and passed away at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was the sole breadwinner of his family, and is survived by his wife and three children.
A Japanese woman who was a passenger in the taxi succumbed to her injuries and died at the Singapore General Hospital on Saturday, May 12, the same day the crash happened.

The accident area, a notorious 'black spot', has seen several accidents.
