The wife of Ma Chi, the Chinese national businessman involved in the Ferrari crash last Saturday (May 12), has come forward to apologise for her late husband's 'driving error'.
Madam He TingTing made the apology online through Chinese microblogging site Weibo on Thursday (May 17). She had used the account of her friend 'Triston' to make a total of five points on the incident.
She wrote that the Ma family "expresses their deepest apologies to the families of the deceased driver and his female passenger who were killed by Ma Chi's driving error". She added that her family intends to take responsibility for the accident, and is awaiting details of the accident report.
She also said that "Ma Chi has paid a heavy price for his actions and I hope everybody will show a little respect for the dead".
Her apology comes in the wake of the horrific accident at Rochor Road that claimed the lives of three people, including the Ferrari's driver Ma Chi, the driver of the taxi that he collided with, and the Japanese passenger on board the cab at the time.
Ma Chi's passenger, a young woman in her twenties, survived the incident, as did a motorcyclist who was knocked off his bike by the impact of the high-speed collision.
Prior to this, the family of the Chinese businessman had raised the ire of netizens by declining to apologise until now.

It was reported that Mr Cheng was earning $1600 monthly. If Mr Cheng is alive, it will take him around 10 years to earn $170K.
With all the bursary given to the children and HDB mortgage fully paid with DPS scheme, $170K is no small change. In 5 yrs, all the children will finish U and started earning money.
Without offence to Mr Cheng's family, I think there are others who lost their loved one in road accidents equally deserve financial help. No?
And karma has been brought to this china Ferrari driver. But he has brought innocent lives with him as well. Well as to think, Ma Chi should have died alone. And if he wants, he should bring the girl beside him together with him but no he didnt he left the girl alive and in substitute he brought 2 innocent lives together with him.
Come to think of it how would the family of the innocent feel? They will be devastated.
