'Why doesn't family of Ferrari driver offer any compensation for cabby's death?'

STOMPers AceKindred and S wonder why the family of the Ferrari driver involved in the three-vehicle crash at Rochor Road on May 12 that killed three and injured two did not offer its condolences and offer compensation for those involved.

Said AceKindred:

"I am sad , disappointed and frustrated that the family of Ferrari driver Ma Chi from China has not issued a letter of apology for what Ma Chi has done.

"I am glad and relieved that the Chinese Embassy in Singapore has issued a letter of reminder to all Chinese living in Singapore to obey the laws and respect lives in Singapore.

"I like to ask if such is the attitude of all rich Chinese from China living in Singapore or is this the only isolated case for Ma Chi's family.

"If the Chinese Embassy in Singapore has the heart and courtesy to issue a letter of reminder and offer its condolences, why is there no letter from Ma Chi's family?

"On May 16, 2012 at about 11.35am I was in a taxi passing by the scene where the fatal accident in which driver Ma Chi from China smashed his $1.4 million LE Ferrari into a taxi killing himself, the taxi driver and the lady Japanese passenger happened.

"I hope that both the lady passenger, also from China, who was with Ma Chi inside the Ferrari will come forward to explain what happened.

"I also hope the relevant agency which performed an autopsy on Ma Chi to determine if he was intoxicated when he was speeding in his Ferrari like a missile smashing into the taxi, will also come forward to explain.

"I would like to recommend to the relevant agencies that Ma Chi's family and Wu Wei Wei who is the lady passenger in the ferrari should not be allowed to leave Singapore no matter what reason before settling the accident caused by Ma Chi from China which killed 3 people including himself.

"I suggested such because I remembered Silviu Ionescu who was a Romanian diplomat in Singapore who was involved in a hit-and-run in Singapore, killing and injuring many others.

"He was allowed to leave Singapore because he was a diplomat and left Singapore by giving a very lame excuse due to suffering from some sickness which only a hospital in Romania can treat."

Said STOMPer S:

"So has anyone ever thought about it?

"So after all this hoo-ha about the Ferrari driver incident...has anyone ever thought about whether the Ferrari driver's family should compensate the taxi driver's family?

"Why has no one asked or thought about this?

"I'm not really interested about who sat in his car but I'm interested whether the Ferrari driver's family will compensate the taxi driver's family?

"So I really hope the Singapore media would report more realistic things like whether the Ferrari driver's family compensated the taxi driver's family, than who sat in his car and what she wore...because nobody cares..."

Video footage showed the Ferrari driver had run a red light and knocked into a taxi which then hit a motorcycle. The Ferrari driver, the taxi driver and the taxi passenger have died, while the Ferrari passenger and the motorcyclist survived the crash.

The female Ferrari passenger has been identified as Wu Wei Wei, from Wuhan, China, a recent graduate from the East Asia Institute of Management. She is still recovering in a high dependency ward at Tan Tock Seng Hospital after an operation on May 14.

According to Ms Wu's friends, she was studying full-time and is from a reputable and financially-stable family. They insisted she did not hold any job and doubted she worked as a nightclub hostess.

Ms Wu was said to be wearing a white spaghetti-strap tank top and hot pants at the time of the accident, and is described as having long, dyed hair.

Actually it was the fault of the deceased driver, not his family members.
Guess that they didn't want it to happen either, as it is not worth losing the source of income through an accident like that.

I think these speeding drivers should not only be fined, but to be put in jail and given 12 strokes of the cane, so forever, they can't sit in their car to drive.
