High performance sports cars have no place on packed Singapore roads

In light of the Rochor Road crash that claimed three lives over the weekend, STOMPer Ban it suggests that high-powered sports cars be banned on packed Singapore roads. He also calls for stricter tests for foreigners to drive here.

Said the STOMPer:

"It is horrifying to see the screenshots of the tragic crash at Bugis.

"In the screenshots, the Ferrari driver beat the red light and rammed straight into the moving taxi at the junction.

"The impact was so strong, both cars ended up at the bus stop 30m down the road.

"It's time the relevant authorities review certain things.

"Firstly, as a small country, should we accommodate such high performance cars on our increasingly packed roads?

"There have been increased sightings of Ferraris or Lamborghinis along Orchard Road.

"Such high speed performance cars generate unnecessary loud engine noise and can endanger the lives of road users and pedestrians.

"Recently, I noticed a spike of fatal accidents involving foreign drivers.

"Relevant authorities should tighten requirements and put in stringent tests to assess the ability of these drivers to drive on our roads."

Stompers who support high power vehicles to be banned are mountain tortoises. cuz singapore roads too small is stupid. In japan, people race on mountain region roads which is not even half of the size our express ways. Most high performance cars, in the right hands, is safer then your everyday Toyota Vios,Altis those kind of sedan cars. A license to drive high performance car would be more appropriate.

go for the human factor and not machines? given a knife, be it a tool or a weapon? the Authorities should concentrate on enforcement and provide the deserve protection from these drivers instead. go for the arrogant and self minded drivers. not to forget the illegal modified cars which are in abundance. worst, no insurance to claim from if claimed from!

Singapore encourage F1, luckily it's the 5th year in holding it and ending soon....
I think it's still the responsibility of individual drivers, and what drivers in Sg (regardless what nationality) are lack of patience, cos too many traffic lights and we came to have the mindset of "red light dun stop""green light must cheong"...no more courtesy rules cos time is precious :(

Actually having a high performance car or not is not an issue. Its the behavioyr of the drivers only.
