Meria Johan said she was not too fond of Jun Er when the two first met, but they soon developed an unbreakable friendship.
Meria tells us about her BFF Jun Er:
"Knowing this sweet girl since 2003, thinking back it has been 9 years. Neither long nor short because I know for sure there will be many years more for this friendship.
"Jun Er has become my best friend after overcoming many obstacles and this is one of the reasons that brought us closer now. The first time I met her was in Secondary school. I didn’t quite like her to be honest.
"However, we got introduced to one another by a senior. Still, I had my reserves about her, didn’t talk much to her but the first few words we exchanged kept me thinking she is quite a nice girl.
"We got into the same class in Secondary 2. That time I was pretty close with this girl G and what surprises me was that G actually knows Jun er and they live nearby one another. This is when things started changing.
"The three of us hanged out a lot, doing sports together, from cycling to badminton, those times were perfect! That’s when I started to discover more about Jun er. I realized that she was a very kind-hearted girl who cares for elderly, basically anyone that needs her help.
"She is an animal-lover, someone who would go all out to look for a missing cat/dog that she has been taking care of for the past few days.
"There has been times where we argued, maybe I am just trying to make things difficult for her but she never gives up, she would tried calling me but ended up I always hung up her calls.
"Haha! Thinking back, I felt guilty for treating her so bad in the past. She even called my house and boldly spoke to my mum. My mum is a very reasonable lady, she would ask me not to throw temper and pick up her calls. Back then, I was very hot-headed and couldn’t take in whatever she is trying to bring across. Then, she will just leave me a very long message pointing out my mistakes which made me even angrier.
"But few days later as I read back, she does make a point there. I began to reply her and that is usually how we make up. As the years went by, we still have bits and pieces of these misunderstanding but I believe it is through these problems that mould our friendship and thus making it stronger! There’s a saying “as we grow older, we became mature and no longer get angry over small petty issues”.
"I always stood by her side whenever she needs me, and vice-versa. She is not a very vocal person and I am the opposite of her, so every time when she’s feeling troubled I have to ask her what’s wrong, what happened and always give her my two cents worth of advice.
"To cut the story short, we understood one another very well, in terms of temper, attitudes, likes and dislike we have it at our fingertip. I know she is a friend to rely on in times of difficulties because it has been proven. Whenever I am feeling low, she is the first person that comes to my mind. I will call her and she could easily tell from my voice how am I feeling.
"I guessed that is something that only best friends could tell. Even how busy we are at times, we would text one another to show concern or meet up. I am very touched at a point of time when I knew that one of ex-boyfriend spoke ill of me and how she actually jumped to my defense. From that it clearly shows me that she is a very appreciative person and a loyal friend!
"I would like to take this opportunity that stomp has given me through organizing this BFF contest to extend my appreciation of having a best friend like her, thank you for staying all these years and putting up with my temper. We had our happy, joyful moments and also times where our friendship were put to test but I am glad our friendship stood strong!"
