Caught in the Act
Auntie rides motorised bike on Orchard Road, breaking 3 traffic rules

STOMPer Huu saw this woman on a motorised bicycle on Orchard Road who apparently violated not one, but three traffic rules.

Said the STOMPer:

"This auntie was seen riding a motorised bicycle along Orchard Road.

"She was violating three traffic rules.

"1) She was riding a motorised bicycle;

"2) the vehicle has no number plate;

"3)She was stopping 'in' the predestian crossing itself."

ROAD TRAFFIC ACT
(CHAPTER 276, SECTION 140)
ROAD TRAFFIC (BICYCLES) RULES

http://www.ntu.edu.sg/ohs/safetyforeveryone/Documents/Singapore%20Laws%20on%20Cycling.pdf

...now we know motorised bike can pillion a passenger.

...7.(1) No bicycle shall be ridden on the right of another vehicle proceeding in the same direction except when overtaking such other vehicle.
(2) No bicycle shall be ridden on the right of any two other bicycles proceeding abreast in the same direction except when overtaking such other bicycles or on parts of roads or paths set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles.
(3) Wherever part of a road or a path adjacent to a road has been set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, no bicycle shall be used on any other part of the roadway.
Bicycle to be ridden on left side of road

...think this also applies to motorised bicylce.

by the way, Stomp did not gave Huu $50...Huu posted due to the danger posed by these motorised bikes on the road. Huu is also a car driver...

The lady is riding in the middle of the road. And the bike was modified to carry a pillion passenger. Orchard Road is already packed be buses and cars, especially the junction of Orchard Road and Clemenceue Road. It was peak hour then, and you must see how the buses and cars sway just to avoid the motorised bike. Think drivers will understand the danger pose by these motorised bike. Unlike motorbike, these motorised bicycles do not have any signal lights, and most do not follow traffic law. If this lady is following the traffic law, she will not ride on the middle of the road, and stop 'in' the predestain crossing...
