STOMPer Smoke-free saw this Singaporean man at the airport in Bangkok, who apparently took advantage of the tax-free cigarettes sold at Changi Airport by buying them in large quantities.
Said the STOMPer:
"Going overseas to neighbouring countries are no longer about shopping only.
"A Singaporean, identified by his passport, was spotted carrying three large packs of cigarettes at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.
"These cigarettes are probably brought in from S'pore Changi Airport, where cigarettes are tax-free and available at a fraction amount of the usual price on S'pore streets.
"Smoking is bad for health especially to smoke such large quantities within a short trip.
"I'm concerned that this is becoming an unhealthy trend. S'poreans should still be taxed for bringing cigarettes out of country, as the higher price will discourage them buying large quantities and smoke freely."
