Why humiliate them? Teacher posts pics of students 'struggling to read' online

STOMPer complaintoMOE came across a photo of students reading posted by a teacher on a social networking application, with the caption, 'struggling to read'.

Said the STOMPer:

"Another case of a teacher abusing a social media site.

"I saw this picture online.

"A teacher posted a photo of his students with reading difficulties on Path.

"Humiliating isn't it?"

"If I am the parent of any of the children in the photo, I will not be happy to see my child portrayed in such a manner.

"It is also not nice if the children see the picture of themselves.

"The teacher apparently teaches mother tongue in a school located in the west of Singapore."

I fully support the teacher who posted the photo. It takes passion to document aspects of your profession and share with all. I pity the naysayers. You only see humiliation and shame of the students. The picture has no names and no tags and no school badge. I only know they are children of school going age. For all you know they may be the brightest students of their level, and the picture is just used artistically. Just because of the caption you want to crucify the teacher? Maybe your literature and social studies and art teachers have failed you. You just can't see other sides of the story.

I agree with jerryboy. It is artistically done and poignantly describes the state of affairs in some segments of the education; the ones that may be left behind. The late bloomers, the ones without any family support for their education. This picture raises awareness of the social problem that is hidden from view, resulting in idiot posts by the stomper and the comments that follow. For all of you, if you have teacher friends please ask them and understand the situation on the ground before commenting out of your *****s from behind your monitor screens.

Nowadays the remuneration have been increased and for some ppl,the sole objective of joining MOE as a educator is not to educate but driven by monetary gains, everyone with the right paper credentials can become a educator but how many of them actually possesses the right qualities to be one? This is an area which MOE must peruse to modify their criteria system as the present crops of problems coming from those so call educators leaves much to be desired

Teachers again!!!! What is moe doing? Sigh..... No one wants to teach so Moe take whoever is willing to join as teachers. Just like singaporeans don't want to give birth, so gov invite any Tom, dick or Harry here. No quality, just quantity..
