STOMPer Gary spotted traffic police booking a man for riding an unauthorised motorised bicycle today (Apr 1).
Said Gary in his email:
"The law has caught up with a man in his late 40s who was operating an unauthorised moped.
"It was confiscated and the rider was booked.
"I feel it is long overdue that enforcement has taken place since public pressure has been mounting to take these culprits to task.
"Such motorists enjoy riding on the roads yet do not pay road tax and insurance on these mopeds that often exceed LTA's requirements.
"These offenders often endanger pedestrians by riding their fast-moving machines onto pavements.
"Worst of all is that they run against the highway codes on the roads.
"While it is very much cheaper than owning a motorcycle as one needs to pay for road tax, insurance, COE, parking fees and maintenance costs; it seems that this man in a brown T-shirt will soon realise riding his moped around is no April Fool's joke."
