SMRT says that their staff did not move in closely in an intimidating manner in an attempt to resolve a molest case between two commuters.

The reply from SMRT came in response to STOMPer Winston's complaint that the MRT staff at Toa Payoh MRT station accused him of "fighting and creating a scene" when he asked for help to deal with a man who molested his mother.

In an email, SMRT replied:

"We would like to clarify on the incident at Toa Payoh MRT Station on Jun 20, which Winston had posted on STOMP - Commuter nabs mum’s molester but MRT staff accuse him of fighting.

"As part of our investigations, we reviewed our CCTV footage which showed that one of our station staff had witnessed a heated argument between the STOMPer’s family member and the accused passenger. Our staff immediately informed the Station Manager (SM), who stepped in to contain the argument.

"As the argument was heated and had attracted the attention of a crowd of commuters, our SM firmly requested both parties to head to the staff room to resolve the matter. At no time did our staff 'move in closely in an intimidating manner', as described by Winston.

"Public Transport Security Command (Transcom) officers later arrived at the staff room to take down statements from both parties. During the recording of the statement, our SMRT staff had requested Transcom to use the word 'argument' instead of 'fighting' to better reflect the situation, as there was no physical abuse involved and no injuries sustained.

"Both parties had also agreed not to pursue the matter further."

Sadly to say "A Total Cover Up By SMRT".
SMRT pls answer my following questions:
1. Why can't this SMRT staff moved in to handle the situation when he had witnessed the heated urgument on the spot?
2. Why this SMRT staff need to report to Station Manager to contain the urgument?
3. Do SMRT want people like me to shout for "Security" 4 times before Station Manager move in to contain the matter?
4. Who is the 5 ft tall man in "civilian clothing" moving in closely towards me. Is he your SMRT staff or not?
5. Why your SMRT staff requested to change the word "fighting" to "urgument" when the whole statement during your investigation never mentioned the word "fighting" at all?
6. Why the situation turn up to be a heated urgument with your SMRT staff if your staff didn't accuse me of fighting?
7. Why was I so mad with SMRT if your staff was so firm and able to contain the situation?
We have decided not to escalate the matter with the old man and not SMRT.

SMRT just want to play it low so that everyone of safe. I think they can just handover to police for investigation and not just like a god.

STOMPer Winston should have pursued the matter further or under pressure from family members. time to show the service level of station staff.
