STOMPer zfeakye9 is outraged that some Singaporeans are suggesting that the girl who was molested by four men at the countdown party at Siloso Beach deserved it because she was dressed provocatively. "There is absolutely no excuse to molest a girl," said the STOMPer.
Several STOMPers had sent in a video posted online over the weekend, showing the girl, who was clad in a bikini, being hugged and groped by four men during the New Year countdown party at Siloso beach on December 31 2009.
The act was committed in full view of the crowd, and no was seen helping the girl.
While many netizens condemned the act, some had written in to STOMP, saying that the girl was to be blamed for dressing skimpily.
Some even went on to suggest that the girl was 'enjoying' the attention.
In response to that, STOMPer zfeakye9 said:
"Whether the girl is dressed in a bikini or a suit, she shouldn't be outraged in this manner.
"Imagine if this was your daugther, girlfriend or someone close to you.
"There is absolutely no excuse to molest a girl."
zfeakye9's view is shared by other STOMPers.
STOMPer SeeNoTouch, who wrote in to STOMP, said that there is no excuse for molesting a woman, no matter how she is dressed.
He said:
"Just because girls wear sexy dresses or bikinis, there is no excuse for a man to molest her. Just like if a house is unlocked, it's still a robbery if you go in and take things away from the house!"
HateevoL said:
"I seriously don't think she deserved it.
"At that point of time she might have been too shocked to resist.
"I can see that she picked up her handbag and bent down several times to avoid being touch."
STOMPers are also angry that no one offered to help the girl.
HaveetoL said:
"The least a Singaporean can do was to ask her if she needed help.
"What's the use of all the charity donations when Singaporeans don't even have the basic kindness to help a weak young lady?"
Another STOMPer, artic_ocean, specifically blamed the male crowd:
"To all you people who said that it was the fault of the girl...Singaporean males are simply WIMPS for not stopping the molesters."
The Police have issued a statement with regards to the case. It said:
"In response to media queries, Police confirm that the woman in question has not contacted the police.
"Anyone with information in relation to the case may call the police hotline 1800 255 0000 or lodge a report at any neighbourhood police centre.
"Police would also like to remind the public to be vigilant against opportunists who might commit molest in crowded areas."

RazorTV spoke to people on the street about the incident.

If she'd been walking down Orchard Rd like that then it would have been a bit strange but it was a BEACH PARTY!
2nd, the girl don't mind, why should camera-man mind?, perhaps jealous being outside of the fun's parking-lot.
Implying Blangalah or Indians don't made camera-man right, they too are humans. I am sure camera-man would love to touch her if he could, had it not the group's presence.
In conclusions, CAMERA-MAN JEALOUS and can't TOUCH! Camera-man can go about picking-up unwanted tissures.
