S'pore driving school car makes its way to Malaysian shopping centre
Tweet
The sight of this car at the City Square car park in Johor shocked STOMPer Alex.
In an email sent to STOMP, the STOMPer wrote that he was amazed to spot this car there on New Year’s Day.
“Is the driving centre opened or closed for public holidays?
“I saw this L plate vehicle from the driving centre in city square car park today, one of the shopping mall in Malaysia near Singapore.
“I was surprised and took pictures.
“Next time I can register n drive to Malaysia too using the L-plate?
“But too bad I got my class 3 already! Haha.”

Some driving school have contract with private driving instructor(esp the private instructor is famous for his outstanding teaching performance) and this private instructor is using their OWN money to buy their car to teach. So during public holiday, when there is not lesson, they want to enjoy themselves by going shopping in Malaysia using their OWN vehicle. What's wrong with that?

Most Singaporean insurance policys do not cover Thailand. Unless stipulated, your comprehensive coverage typically ends in peninsular Malaysia with a 50 kilometre overlap into Thailand (which is designed to allay any doubts about you being near a border) - its not meant to cover you in Thailand.

So? What's the big deal about it? Both side customs also allowed this vehicle to pass. Standard Singapore license plate, no L plate, just stickers. It can also be a instructor who borrowed the vehicle over the weekend.

the "L" plate is not really there right. its just the stickers. its a car with stickers after all. just that those stickers are from the driving school. many people paste stickers all over their cars.
