Caught in the Act
Fed-up motorist snaps over 200 pics of heavy vehicles flouting traffic rules

STOMPer James was fed up with the number of commerical vehicles disregarding traffic laws by driving in the middle or extreme right lanes of expressways and sent in over 200 pictures of them doing so.

Said the STOMPer:

"I have tried giving them to Traffic Police.

"Sadly, nothing's been done.

"I want all of them to be caught and summoned by the Traffic Police.

"Please also don't ask me to send them to Traffic Police. If they are doing their jobs, I wouldn't need to continue taking pictures of these errant drivers.

"Everyday that I am on the highway, there would be vans, lorries, trucks, cargo trucks on every lane other than the left lane.

"They are totally nonchalant that they are not supposed to be on the middle or extreme right lane unless they are overtaking.

"They simply drive leisurely on the middle or extreme right lane at 60 km/hr.

"When I honk at them, there's totally no response. The highway is so congested because of these kind of drivers with this kind of mentality on the highway.

"Frankly, I have tried sending emails with such pictures to the Traffic Police but every single day, I still see so many of such drivers on the highway.

"Every time I see Traffic Police, they are up on the overhead bridges. Did my email work ? I seriously don't think so.

"Anyway, the drivers should know that by driving on the middle or extreme right lane of the highway, they will surely get into trouble.

"This matter is seriously getting out of hand."

Hi James, I fully understand your gripe about the Traffic Police. I have personally seen a Highway patrol BMW totally turning a blind eye to a speeding lorry a few cars in front of them on the ECP. The traffic policemen were happily chatting away, and turned off the highway without batting an eyelid. I have often wondered, what are the traffic police doing?? I have also seen cars breaking basic traffic rules ALL the time, like not stopping within the line at a traffic junction, or proceeding to move off before the lights have turned green in their favour, to nonchalantly crossing double white lines. These may sound like small matter, but if our drivers are not even monitored for flouting basic traffic rules, how are they expected to
be more conscientious and considerate on the roads??

this is nothing, the worse ever is cabbie & private bus stop at double yellow line to pick up passangers everyday and anytime I was in the road. why TP nvr take action? or maybe cabbie have the right to pick up on double yellow line.

@LiuXuanDe - you must love errant drivers. Our government should be more like you, then we can save a bundle by closing down the Traffic Police department, remove all traffic lights and dispense with painting those lines on the roads so that everyone can drive anywhere they please. Why, if Singapore is like this, I wonder if anyone from other countries will ever want to come here? Brilliant!

I can totally feel what you are feeling. they are usually big and restrict your view upfront and you had to increase your following distance. this all makes it slower. its inconsiderate. slower vehicles please keep left!
