STOMPer Claire Shen was shocked when she saw this UOB ATM in Bedok spitting out bogus receipts by itself. Could this be yet another bad publicity stunt, asks the STOMPer.
In an email to STOMP today (Nov 9), the STOMPer says:
“I would like to send this to you because I've given up on getting an explanation from UOB.
“I contacted them a few times but have not heard anything back. I don't know if they are trying to hide a serious problem in their system.
“I hope that using STOMP as a platform can provide an answer to this possible security issue.
In an email intended for UOB, the STOMPer says:
“I was going to withdraw from your ATM near the Bedok central market today around 1.30pm, and saw that it was spitting out bogus receipts by itself!
“I didn't use it because I thought it was a virus. I called your service centre and your staff thought it was a joke. It has been more than an hour and I still have not heard from you.
“I want an explanation. I've trusted your bank and your security, and this is not funny at all. Is this a bad marketing idea? Be honest with me.”

To the STOMPer who said that you've seen it on a POSB machine too, was it exactly the same?
For those of you who think I played a prank, that's really silly because this is a really serious issue. I don't know what it was, but I can only hope UOB has taken care of it.
