It is about time these old buses are upgraded, says STOMPer Justice Bao, who was upset when he found the service he boarded to be worn out and extremely hot and stuffy to be in.
As the bus company in charge, SMRT should invest their profits in upgrading to be fair for its commuting customers, says the sender.
Say STOMPer Justice Bao:
"These pictures were taken on board bus service 178, which is owned by SMRT.
"The bus runs from Woodlands Regional Interchange to Boon Lay Interchange.
"The sides of the windows looked worn out and I was hoping that the glass panels would not drop off suddenly.
"The air-con was not working and it was like sitting in an oven.
"I checked the SMRT website and was shocked to find that for the FY 2008, SMRT made an after-tax profit of $149.9 million and this was no mean feat.
"Since SMRT has made millions, how about upgrading some of the buses which are fit for the museum.
"SMRT should not concentrate on just making profits but take cognisance of its social responsibility to provide a decent service for the travelling public."![]()
